Posted Sunday, February 04, 2007 3:04:15 PM by Blog57 Team
Before cancer cells can migrate, or metastasize, to other parts of the body, they first have to disconnect from their neighbors in the tumor. This achievement was made possible through a consistent commitment by the staff and administration to improve state of the art care for cancer patients at the community level. KGH utilizes the video teleconferencing capability of PeaceHealth to affiliate its program with St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham, Washington. Headlines: Test To Improve Cancer Treatment

A new test is expected to improve cancer treatment. It will help doctors match the best drugs for the patient. Not only is it expected to improve outcome, but also eliminate some unnecessary side effects associated with some cancer drugs. Scientists have developed a new test they say is 80 percent accurate in predicting the drugs to best fight cancer causing tumors. The genetic test can be used to predict not only whether a single drug can work to stop a tumor, but whether a specific combination of drugs will work. Researchers ran lab tests using leukemia, ovarian, breast and lung cancer tumor samples. They plan to start applying the results with breast cancer patients next year. In other headlines, a new study shows a diet high in refined cereals, and bread in particular, is associated with a higher risk of kidney cancer....
