Vienna neighborhood watch to meet Monday

The VIENNA TOWNSHIP NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the township hall. Guest speaker is Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk who will present a slide show on crime scene investigations. The Vienna Ecumenical Food Pan-try is in need of donations to purchase perishable items to provide for 47 families that are in the community. All items donated at the meeting will be given to the food pantry. Checks can be made to the Vienna Ecumenical Food Pantry. Fowler United Methodist Church will hold a CHICKEN PIE DINNER from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $7 adults, $3.50 children ages 6 to 12, and free to preschoolers. Take-out will be available. For a few more days at least, the village of Allouez defends its role as champion of the Project VOTE Voter Challenge for having had the highest voter turnout in the 2006 spring election. Project VOTE, which is an acronym for Voice of the Electorate, is a local nonpartisan group working to increase voter turnout and awareness in Brown County. It's urging voters to bring pride to their municipality by going to the polls in large numbers. Project VOTE was founded in 2002 by Glen Tilot. Allouez reported 30.8 percent of its registered voters turned out to vote in the spring election. Hobart and Denmark tied at second-place, with 28 percent each. The county average was 23 percent. The traveling trophy goes to the municipality with the highest percentage of registered voters going to the polls on Tuesday....

10 in Ohio sickened in salmonella outbreak

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ten people from Ohio have been sickened in a salmonella outbreak that has struck 171 people in 19 states, health officials said. Kristopher Weiss, a spokesman for the Ohio Department of Health, said preliminary tests indicate all 10 cases shared the same strain as the national outbreak, which a federal health official said Tuesday appears to be over. ....
